Another one bites the dust

Well, hopefully, not literally. But I have waved goodbye to another story and sent it on its way. Edge of Forever is now available for pre-order on Amazon. It will be available to purchase on the 31st May not just at Amazon but also Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Apple, Smashwords. A paperback will follow shortly.

When I saw a newspaper article about American cowboys going to Russia to teach Russians how to handle cattle, I thought it sounded fascinating. There were lots of articles on line, including some from the wives of the cowboys who’d not only accompanied their husbands but taken their children.

The amount of research I need to do varies from novel to novel. Looking at pictures of good looking guys is always a treat, but this story required more reading than most. Even though that research didn’t actually end up in the story, it still guided it.

While the American cowboys found some of the cultural differences hard to deal with, they found they had a lot in common with their Russian counterparts. The Russians weren’t the ‘enemies’ they thought they were. Cowboys love their work. They have to. Being a cowboy is a tough job and the welfare of the cattle is their prime consideration. If there is one thing they wanted to teach the Russians it was that while the cows might end up on your plate, you don’t need to make their journey there a difficult one.

Pasha, my Russian character, has no interest in cows but a certain American cowboy is a different matter. The two don’t hit it off at all. They have nothing in common. Except being gay. But when one is out and the other isn’t, nothing is plain sailing.
